Thols
A lucid, distrustful flesh golem chained in the Iron Throat. If fully freed, he may leave Smuggler’s Hollow aboard the released Lantern of Iriolarthas.
General description
A lucid, distrustful flesh golem chained in the Iron Throat. If fully freed, he may leave Smuggler’s Hollow aboard the released Lantern of Iriolarthas.
Key facts
- Breaking only Thols’s wrist chains lets him move inside the vault but does not let him leave Smuggler’s Hollow.
- Removing the throat band and nullifying the floor anchor fully frees him.
- If the party releases the Lantern of Iriolarthas on the high-tide surge, a fully freed Thols can board and depart with the ship without a check.
- If the ship remains wedged, a fully freed Thols may leave by the party’s route or remain as guardian.
Roleplaying profile
- Personality
- Lucid, distrustful, slow to anger, unsentimental, and deeply responsive to honesty after decades of betrayal and isolation.
- Motivation
- Win freedom from the three bindings, judge whether the party differs from his captors, and decide for himself what comes after the Iron Throat.
- Quirks
- Speaks in slow, costly fragments, never begs, studies the speaker before the words, and reacts more strongly to a fear-based lie than an open threat.
